He really looses his realistic badassness and it just seems he wins because he's written to win.įrankly the whole Gat into Hell story is unappealing to me as well and at this point it just seems like obvious Fan Service to push units, but it's not the same Gat that I came to know and love from 1 and 2, so as a fan I don't care.
When they put him back in Saints Row 4, it was more to appease long running fans of the series or just lazy writing who knows, but you are right that he does feel forced in 4. He was still his relatable self and his devotion to his friends and single handedly attempting to take on the bad guys just reinforced that he was a badass. Then developers removed him in Saints Row 3 early on. On top of that his personality was an earthbound psychopath and was entirely relateable with, so naturally many, myself included came to love his character. He's badass because he gets stuff done, violently so a lot of the time. In Saints Row and Saints Row 2 Gats portrayal is more down to earth badass.
